Dessert Recipe: Cracker Candy

I absolutely LOVE dessert.  If dinner didn’t exist, I would be perfectly happy going straight to dessert.  So you will definitely continue to see dessert recipes quite often throughout Food Marriage.

Here’s a recipe that I have been making for years.  I call it “Cracker Candy” as it is made with crackers and turns out tasting much like a toffee candy with chocolate.  It’s great to put out in a bowl at a party or even put in a fancy tin to give away as a gift during the holidays (around holiday time, it also pairs well with peppermint bark!)

Cracker Candy

  • 1 sleeve of Keebler Club Crackers (Original Flavor)
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 (12 oz) bag of Chocolate Chips
  • Nuts (Optional)
  • Foil

  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Line a cookie sheet with foil (I wrap the edges of the pan in the foil, too)
  • Cover the entire bottom of the cookie sheet with crackers end to end until all crackers fit snugly against each other (You may need to break a couple crackers at the bottom to make sure it fits well)
  • Melt butter completely in the microwave in a small bowl.
  • Stir in the sugar to the melted butter (it will not completely dissolve so do not be worried if you see the sugar sitting at the bottom. Just mix it as well as you can)
  • Pour the butter/sugar mixture evenly over the crackers (Make sure the crackers don't pop up and slide around).
  • Use a spatula to spread the butter/sugar mixture everywhere so all crackers are covered.
  • Put the cookie sheet into the oven.
  • Bake in the 350° for 10 to 11 minutes (the butter will also start bubbling up)
  • Remove from oven and immediately pour the bag of chocolate chips evenly over the crackers.
  • After all the chocolate is spread, you can also add a sprinkling of crushed nuts if you would like. I chose to not include the nuts this time (really because I didn't have any in the house) but they are really good with nuts too!
  • Allow to cool and put into refrigerator to continue cooling and harden the chocolate.
  • Once completely cool and hardened, remove from refrigerator and break into pieces (You do not have to break in the shape of the crackers; i just break into random pieces for a jagged look)
  • Keep stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator until serving.

  1. Yum!!! I am going to have to try this!

  2. It is delicious!! I highly recommend!! Be sure to keep it stored in the refrigerator to keep the butter and chocolate from melting.
