Being married isn’t just about being there for each other through good times and bad times. It’s also about the extended network of family and friends that you now have together and being there to support them. A coworker of my husband’s recently experienced a tragic loss. His son, Brian Harrison, passed away, but as an organ donor, he was able to save many lives.
In celebration of his life and the lives that were saved through his organs, his family decided to organize a team together to do the Annual Dash for Organ & Tissue Donor Awareness in Philadelphia. My husband and I signed up right away for the 3K walk! Prior to the walk, we got together for breakfast at Sabrina’s Cafe located at 1804 Callowhill Street in the Fairmount/Art Museum area of Philadelphia.
The restaurant was packed and there was a line out the door…pretty popular little place! I just grabbed a quick bagel because we were running late and I didn’t want to overstuff myself before the walk, but I was quickly regretting my decision and wishing I had chosen something else! Everyone else around me was ordering up gigantic platters of Challah French Toast served with sweet cream cheese between every layer of bread. Apparently, Sabrina’s Cafe has three locations throughout the city and serves lunch and dinner, too! You can check out their menus here.

After our meal, we headed off the few blocks to the Art Museum where the crowd started to gather. There was a 10K run and a 5K run. Finally, there was the 3K walk which we did. It ran right along the Schuylkill River on the opposite side from Boat Hose Row…great scenery!
