The end of August means back to school time college students!!! I can’t believe that my first day of college would have been 10 years ago this week. Yep, I started my freshman year of college back in August 2002 at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Just thinking about that makes me feel old!!!
Me at My Computer Desk in College! |
I’m SO glad I chose to go to school here, because it is where I met my husband!! While reminiscing about the good times, I realized that I STILL had my old Dell Desktop computer that my parents had bought for me my first year of school. It has been through everything!! College kids have it easy today, just walking in with their laptops. We had to lug the the whole heavy computer tower, monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, and all the wires! When I got the computer, it didn’t have wireless internet capability…I actually had to buy a little card to stick in the back with an antenna that stuck out of it to pick up the signal. And, it actually had a drive for 3.5 inch floppy disks that I used to save my assignments on!

That old desktop computer was not only for homework. It was for chatting with my friends on AIM. It was for the days when illegally downloaded music was easy and acceptable and I had such a crazy mix of songs because whoever would come over would add something new to the playlist. It was for blasting music when wanted to dance! And it always ended up as a great spot for photo ops!!

So now that 10 years have gone by, I realized it’s time to get rid of the trusty old desktop. It’s done it’s share of traveling, coming home from college and going to my parents’ house. And once I got married, it came along with me again when I moved in with my husband. It takes up a lot of space, collects a lot of dust, and never gets turned on because we have a MAC laptop and and iPad.
Must have spilled something in the keyboard! |
