Day One of Quitting Caffeine!

That’s right…the title of today’s post is correct.  Today is my first day of quitting caffeine.  Am I crazy?  Probably.  Is there a reason for it?  Absolutely!  My younger brother, Matthew, is going to school at the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL to become a chiropractor.  For one of his classes, he has decided to do a research project on eliminating caffeine and replacing it with a certain kind of tea.

Since he needed study participants and I like a good challenge, I decided to put myself to the test.  Cut out caffeine for one whole month and see the results.  Anytime I feel like I want a caffeinated drink, all I have to do replace it with some Organic India Tulsi Tea.  Tulsi is also known as “Holy Basil.” Throughout India, Tulsi is known as the “Queen of Herbs” and is a scared plant said to have many healing powers.  It is an organic tea that is full of antioxidants and can help with relief of stress, can increase your energy, and can boost your immune system!

Original Tulsi Tea

A few of the Tulsi Teas are caffeinated, so I chose a few flavors that were caffeine free.  I purchased the Original, Red Chai Masala, Raspberry Peach, and Red Mango flavors to try.  I’ve had two cups of tea so far and it’s delicious, so I am off to a good start! And I haven’t seen any side effects from quitting caffeine yet…but I guess we will see what happens in a few days!  I’ll keep you posted.  Wish me luck!  (Or feel free to join in the fun!)

Disclosure: I was invited to participate in the “Holy Basil” study by my brother, a National University of Health Sciences student.  I was asked to specifically purchase Organic India Tulsi Tea.  I was not asked to write about my experience and I did not receive any compensation.  All opinions expressed herin are entirely my own.
