You may already know from reading my post about the Eat Write Retreat Blog Conference that I won a $500 gift card for Calphalon!  Calphalon was one of the sponsors of Eat Write Retreat 2013, and their representative Atoosa Arfa (who was a sweetheart)  also attended the event.  Throughout the weekend, she presented a few lucky attendees, including myself, with this prize!  I couldn’t have been more excited!!  Not only do I now get the chance to replace some of my older, beat-up cookware, but I can purchase some things that I never had before!!

Your Set by Calphalon @FoodMarriage

I had the opportunity to completely customize a cookware set and mix and match different items through “Your Set by Calphalon.”  Calphalon can be pretty expensive sometimes, but when you purchase through building this set, you get a lot of discounts!  For example, you start with the “base set” which includes a 10″ Omelette pan, a 3 quart Sauce pot  with lid, and a 3 quart Saute pan with lid (you can choose either the Unison Nonstick or the AccuCore Stainless Steel).  Then you have the opportunity to add pieces to the base set.  With each addition of a new piece, you are also getting a higher percentage off your total bill.  Starting with the base set, you are already getting it 30% off the total retail price.  If you add two pieces, you get 35% off and if you add three pieces you get 40% off the total price!!  This blew me away!!

I decided to choose all of my pieces in the Unison Nonstick.  I started with the base set, which I knew could replace some old cookware and then I added a 12″ Omelette pan.  I’ve never owned a Wok or a Dutch Oven before, so I knew I had to add those pieces to the set too!  I must be pretty lucky because at the time of my purchase the Dutch Oven, which usually retails at $199 was on sale for $99 and the Wok, which usually retails at $249.95 was also on sale for $99.  So I got to take advantage of those sales, then take 40% off the total bill, and then use my $500 gift card!! If you are contemplating buying new cookware, I would definitely recommend going through Your Set by Calphalon to take advantage of some great deals!

Just for fun, I decided to do the math on what the total ACTUAL cost of my set would have been if I purchased it piece by piece separately in a store or online at regular retail price.  The total retail value would have been $1,098.79.  OMG and with the sales, discounts (and my lovely gift card), I only spent $9.97.

And if it seems it couldn’t get any better, upon checking out, they threw in a FREE 7-piece utensil set and a FREE 12″ every day pan with a lid.  I am so appreciative to Atoosa and Calphalon and can’t wait for my delivery to get here so I can start enjoying my new cookware and whipping up new recipes!!  And thank you also for featuring the Food Marriage Custom Cookware set on Calphalon’s website!

I LOVE my set! The only thing I haven’t gotten a chance to try out yet is the Dutch Oven. I need to find a good recipe to make with it!
