I had heard a lot of hype about Skinnygirl Margarita, the pre-mixed margarita drink created by Bethenny Frankel. So I decided to go out and buy myself a bottle!
The reason that the Skinnygirl Margarita has become so popular is because of its calorie count. They market the brand by stating that there are only 100 calories per 4 oz serving. This number is pretty staggering since the average margarita runs about 500 calories per 4 oz serving.
At first sip, my thought was that it was definitely tart. Most margaritas are tart anyway, but I am assuming because of the lack of sugar in the Skinnygirl Margarita, that it turns out a bit tarter than usual. Also, at first sip, you can definitely taste the alcohol. At 12.7 percent alcohol (25.4 proof) it is a pretty strong drink.
Pros of Skinnygirl Margarita:
- It’s inexpensive.
- It’s easy. You just pour it in a glass and it’s ready to go.
- It’s low calorie (Personally, I don’t really care about calorie count. I’m not the kind of girl that sits and counts all my calories. But I guess if I save on the drink calories, I’ll save more room for things like my Fudge Truffle Cheesecake…)
Cons of Skinnygirl Margarita:
- The flavor is not the best, but it is bearable. I guess after your first or second glass, you might not notice too much anyway.
- It might actually be better mixed with something…I’ll have to experiment. But depending on what you mix with, it might defeat the purpose of being low calorie.
Have you tried Skinnygirl Margarita or any of the other Skinnygirl products? What are your thoughts?
